Claire Elise Boucher is a Canadian musician and singer from Canada. The early work of her has been classified as "lo-fi R&B to futuristic dance-pop",[4that draws inspiration from hip-hop and electronic music, as well as rock. She is often incorporating science fiction as well as feminist themes in her lyrics. She has recorded five albums. Grimes was born and raised in Vancouver before moving to Montreal in 2000. Grimes started releasing her songs as a solo artist at the beginning of 2000. The albums released were by Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes, and Halfaxa in 2010. She subsequently became a member of 4AD and gained notoriety when she released the third album of her studio, Visions which came out in the year 2012. Visions contains the singles "Genesis", and "Oblivion" as well as being recognized with an award called the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. [5] Following this, her album with her band, Art Angels, was launched in the year of 2015 and earned the acclaim of critics, with several publications having have rated it as the top album of the year. Sixteen years later, her fifth album Miss Anthropocene, was made available in the year 2000. Outside of the music industry, Grimes had a voice performance in the action role-playing video game Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge for the music competition game series Alter Ego.
